Anima Residence is a traditional fisherman’s house built with local architecture and offers an impeccable view. It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests. Enjoy the direct sunset and caldera view from your private terrace. Anima Residence is just above Amoudi beach and next to the famous Castle of Oia.

“Sea-wakened, proud / you lifted up your stone breast / speckled with the southwind’s inspiration / for pain to inscribe its very heart there. / For hope to inscribe its very heart there” (Trans. by Jeffrey Carson & Nikos Sarris). These were the words through which the great Greek poet Odysseas Elytis expressed his feelings for Oia in his poem “Ode to Santorini”.
The traditional village of Oia –a listed monument–  unfolds along the volcanic rocks; it is the jewel of Santorini. Adored by everyone for its eternal exquisite beauty and unforgettable sunsets, Oia seduces visitors with her picturesque yposkafa, (residences carved into the rock), narrow paths and imposing Caldera. “It is Oia that has made me wiser and helped me improve my humble perception of aesthetics; it taught me the art of subtraction, or rather non-addition, the value of harmony and the human scale” says fashion designer Yannis Tseklenis, in reference to the uniqueness of Oia.

During the Middle Ages, in Oia was built one of the island's "Kastelias" (castles): the "Kastelli of St. Nicholas". There are reports of the castle's existence since 1480, but probably it began to form a little earlier, when the Venetians were the rulers of the island.

From St. Nicholas' castle only a piece of the tower survives today. It was named after a subculture church dedicated to Agios Nikolaos and was built around 1450.
The castle suffered great damage from the 1956 earthquake and much of the traditional settlement fell into the sea beneath the caldera. Large churches, such as the church of St. George and Panagia Placansi, were completely destroyed. Even though there are not many things left by the castle, this is one of the most touristic places in Greece. It is the point where people from all over the world arrive every afternoon to see the sunset. And it is just next to Anima Residence’s private terrace.
